Michael Bay won't be directing Transformers 2.

I hope he really expanRAB on TF2. I'm fine with him directing the first and second...infact, I'm more for a director being on board of the WHOLE franchise *cough* Bryan Singer *cough*...

Yeah, but I think the previous poster was getting at the fact that Singer left the X-Men franchise to direct Superman Returns.

In defence of Ratner (as seems appropriate here), he did a great job directing X-men 3 - bearing in mind he was handed the finished script, and three months in which to film it. I totally blame Singer and Fox for that mess.

Oh yeah, totally agree, Ratner did the best job he could with the time given...see, this is what happens when studios push for films to be relased by a certain date...they get rushed and it shows. X-Men 3 wasn't horrible but it was a bit of a let down in places. I still enjoyed it though.

But yes I was refering to Bryan Singer, who is a great director, bailing out for Superman Returns, which I think was crap. X3 wasn't bad but imagine what it could have been if he had stuck around.

Now, as far as TF2 and 3 go...most people are mixed. They think a different director could improve on the franchise..while others would prefer Bay to stay coz they think he did a good job. Now, I LOVED Transformers and I think Bay should stay, the only thing that annoyed me was the little changes he did, such as Prime with lips, Megatron's look and not getting Frank Welker for his voice. Other than that the film was good and he did a good job and I'd prefer him to stay...if he doesnt for the duration of the franchise, then pass it on to either Spielberg or someone like Cameron. :)

But for me, Bay is OK.

all that matters sequel wise is the CHRIS NOLAN ensures BATMAN : THE DARK NIGHT is as good as BATMAN BEGINS!!!

thats the only sequal I really am looking forward too next year (and maybe Mummy 3!)

I am boycotting The Mummy 3...the premise sounRAB awful and NOT RACHEL WIEZ!

Still haven't seen Batman Begins, can't really be bothered to.

Reverse what you said and you've got it right. Blu-Ray is dying a death I'm afraid. Sales of PS3's are terrible, Blu-Ray machines cost too much compared to HD-DVD and you can get DVD/HD-DVD back to back discs, not so for Blu-Ray.

HD-DVD has this battle won I'm afraid, and that's why 2 studios have dumped Blu-Ray on it's arse, more will follow soon, especially with the Xbox 360 picking up sales again (even before Halo 3 turns up) and the HD-DVD add-on being the cheapest way to go HD.

I am glad Bay is doin T2 because I thought he did a brill job on the first- one of the best films of 2007 and can't wait for the next- whenever that is (stupid strike!) :p
Anyway... this whole argument, I don't really dabble in- have not bothered with HD TV/DVD or BluRay... I am staying with the good old fashioned DVD- I own to many to then change my whole set up and to be perfectly honest what is wrong with not having to see every line on the face of the actor/ress on screen? Yes, I know there is the whole thing about the new gen disks holding more data but in all seriousness, what else do we need that the DVD can't?
It's just annoying the way we now have to decide, the player is needed, with HD- you can't even use it without the TV! BluRay is expensive (more than HD, I think!) and the easiest way to get it is through the PS3, which I don't think is selling to well!
It's annoying- hope the death of the DVD is not any time soon!

Good call from the man above.

I've invested in a nice big HD tv, if only for the consoles. I'd call myself a BIG movie fan only it doesnt seem that long ago that we made the jump from VHS to DVD, having to replace all the movies you loved / owned to get it on the spangly DVD format. To do it all again so soon seems crazy.

I'd like to know when the cinemas will be going High Def. It's great seeing a film on such a massive screen but mostly the quality is pretty poor. Very noticable on sweeping / panning shots, everything goes blurry and jittery. (yes i go to more than one cinema)

Cinemas are High Def. The next step for cinemas is for them to go Digital which basically means that we can say goodbye to film reels and embrace "Super HD", which is something daft like double the amount of detail as 1080p TV's.

When i saw Pirates 3 this year it was a digital screening, and it looked amazing.

The Odean Cinemas have started to put money into digital- they are opening new cinemas which have Digital Screens in and then they are starting to put them into old cinemas as well.
I have seen a film on one of the screens- they are cool but to be brutally honest, what is the complete point to put so much money in?
