Michael Bay: No one does the intense slow-motion shot like he does!

Yeah, I heard about this earlier this afternoon; I'm not sure how much I can trust it to be 100% official (it is from imdb.com after all). I certainly hope his "Quitting" of the Transformers Franchise isn't for good and just untill Paramount changes their mind about the Release date of TF3.

I agree with the part I highlighted. I do think that a change of genre would be good for him.

Michael Bay knows how to film vehicular action.

Watch Bad Boys I-II. Guilty pleasures of mine. Bad Boys had the better comedy and plot. Bad Boys II had the bigger and better action.

also, his filming crew is very decked out. He actually has a camera built into the back of a souped up go-kart which is piloted by a driver. (that makes it possible for high speed ground shots of the front of the vehicles)

I'm trying to find more information on his filming crew. You have to have ****s of steel to be in a vehicle outfitted with roll cages, cameras, souped up engines and drive it in front of explosions, crashing cars, and other coordinated disasters.

He managed to make Megan Fox (Transformers) and Gabrielle Union (Bad Boys II) seem like believable bad asses.

Anyway, Michael Bay's filming style is better than the imitators. I'm not a fan of shaky camera, but he makes it bearable.

The Rock is one of his best movies.

He was the only one that can make Transformers look like reality.

I figured this place would be booming with Appreciation for Michael Bay everytime I skipped passed it on the Master List Thread.

Ah, anyways, I enjoy Michael Bay movies and his direction, as wild as it is; The action scenes don't confuse me that much. His 360 camera shots are by far my favorite moments in his films and the way he uses the lighting of the outside (particularly the orange sunsets) is very relaxing to me. I can't understand the flack this guy catches, honestly. Like Paul W.S. Andeeson, He makes entertaining movies for the masses, yet he gets dissed for his efforts. Really confusing.

TRANSFORMERS was asbolutely brilliant, as an action film and as tribute to the Hasbro's multimedia series overall. The CGI used for the Auotbots and Decepticons are like nothing I've every seen before. It manages to be beautiful despite its characters rough exterior.

Besides TRANSFORMERS, The Rock (1996), Armageddon (1998) and The Island (2005) are my favorite Michael Bay movies. I never enjoyed the Bad Boys series and Pearl Harbor didn't appeal to me, though I did enjoy the entire Bombing Sequence (the best part of the film).

I think its been confirmed that Michael Bay isn't directing Disney's adaption of Prince of Persia.
 
Ahh Speilberg will be the exec. Producer on this flic, but I'm sure that he will add his insight to the directing. Michael Bay would be wise to take advice from a legend like Speilberg.

Don't get me wrong, Michael Bay is a great action director, no doubt about it. I just think that he hasn't chosen the best movies. He needs an epic action movie to really leave an impression, what Armageddon should have been...

And I could not agree more, I have always admired Bay for not relying on CGI for most of his shots, he really goes out there and literally blows things up, which is crazy, awesome, lol. And you can tell he's such a perfectionist at it.

Hey pickles I'm coming to give you support because it seems like you and I are the only ones who have appreciated on the appreciation thread.

I actually like his insane style because it makes me feel more a part of the blowing up.

What I do like about Michael Bay is that he doesn't rely heavily on CGI a lot of his action is just filmed he really blows up those cars or crashes that helicopter. That's a style of filming that is not very popular these days, it is old school.
 
I agree about the script, and it better be something totally original, where he can just do incredible odds with it.

It might be collaboration...at IMDB, it has Bay down as Director...
 
I actually thought that Steven Speilberg had signed on to direct the Transformers film...is this going to be a collabarative work?
 
I am not a huge fan of the Bad Boy movies....but I did like Armageddon a lot...contrived storyline, but I still liked it, lol.
 
I do agree that someone needs to give Michael Bay a blow away script. I really liked the Island though, especially for what Ewan and Scarlett did with it...I love Ewan I'm horribly biased.

I would love if someone gave him like a great script for something like...well damn I can't think of anything now but you know. Something cool. With more Ewan.
 
Those aren't very impressive titles to be honest. He is pretty much a cut and draw action director, but those aren't great action movies. I really liked the Rock and I thought that Pearl Harbor had some nice epic battle sequences in it, but bad boys was needless pyrotechnics and blanks and Armageddon was just a poorly executed premise all around.
