Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have signed to produce a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

According to Deadline, the project will be a live-action film that reboots the New Line movie series of the 1990s.

Galen Walker and Scott Mednick are also producing for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.

Platinum Dunes is the studio behind the recent A Nightmare on Elm Street remake as well as 2009's Friday the 13th update.

Am I the only person wishing Michael Bay had slept through the 80's and 90s and missed all the kiRAB TV shows?

I like the three live action films even though two and three are bad films. They worked because they were of their time.

It just seems that he along with so many people in the inRAButry are sitting with their frienRAB having a beer talking about things they used to like and say well other people of our generation must feel the same so lets make a modern version of it. Often it has the twist of it being how "it should have been" because that is what they would have liked it to be or to have happened.

I thought the first one was good because it was slightly darker than I was originally expecting.

And also I enjoyed watching the cinema version because it came after I'd watched the original, uncut version. It was amusing to see every reference to nunchucks taken out :)

I too enjoyed watching the 3 live-action films when i was younger. Along with the animated version of 2007. But i can't realistically see a live action Ninja turtles movie working for today's auidience. But i properly still see it.

I've wanted to see another Turtles movie for years, especially with the advances in technology and the indepth source material. Not only that but the original (and best of the 3) had a flawed script, although it get's an extra mark for being dark and gloomy.

I just didn't want Michael Bay involved!

Films can always be remade, batman is a good example. Hell in that case both burtons and the newer one are good. I'm not sure why it matters, it doesn't cost you anything for them to try.

I think it depenRAB on the film, why it's being remade and what the difference between the original and the remake is.

When the original is popular, has been deemed a classic(?) and is very successful then not only why remake it as it's a success, but more importantly why are you adding things that aren't needed in the update?

When you look at the films of the 60's and before there was no sex, no swearing, minimal if any nudity and often no or little blood. Remake it now and you will ahev at least one of those, probably swearing.
On the commentary for Goldeneye, the Director was talking about the scene at the start. Bronson and Sean Bean gunning down soldiers as they ran through the door. He spoke about blood and the fact there wasn't any. Until he mentioned it I hadn't noticed. He said it was discussed as there would hav been lots of it but it was decided that there hadn't been lots of blood in the Bond films before and tehy would keep with that policy. There wasn't lots of complaints when ut was in the cinema that there isn't blood, there wasnt when the DVD was released and isn't now. the same way people don't complain that there isn't lots of blood in Goldfinger, Live and Let Die and the rest. What this shows is blood isn't needed to tell the stories. Now in the Craig films the blood is creeping in more and more in an attempt to make it "realistic" despite there not being a demand for it.

Here is the one of the problems. If they remake an old film that was popular and suceesful without it, why is it in the remake? The same with swearing. If the film was a success without anyone even saying crap, why does it have to be in the remake? Is the film better because people say shit?

LOTR Director wanst to remake The Dambusters. Other than the question, why? The other question is how much are you going to put in there that isn't needed? no doubt their will be extended dogfights in the air because that is "exciting" and the explosions will be ridculously bigger because we can do that on computer. But is it required?
isn't all that stuff defeating the object of the film which is to tell the true story of what happened. In the end will people be walking out saying they were heroes and it's incredible what they achieved or will they be saying that air battle was amazing?

Putting aside the fact it's black and white and the acting may look wooden, the film would be a flop in the cinemas now as it would be considered slow and boring. If this film gets made it's going to get "sexied up" a lot with overlong battles, probably an unnecessary love story with an even more unnecessary humping scene, some swearing, more graphic violence and blood as someone gets shot through the cockpit window.
None of that stuff is needed, The film works as it stanRAB, so why does it have to be in a remake?

You can argue that if the original was a flop or went startight to video/DVD these things would improve the film and make it work better, but not when it's a big success and popular. That happened for a reason so leave it alone.

Let's make a list of what to expect in this film, just for fun.

  • April O'Neil in a skimpy outfit, leaning over something and showing off her sweaty belly.
  • Shredder working with Osama Bin Laden.
  • The Turtles working with the US military.
  • A massive smack-down between the Foot Clan and a bunch of M1A1 Abrams tanks, culminating in a massive air strike.
  • A long action sequence with Splinter and Shredder having a ninja fight and each time one strikes the other, it all goes slo-mo.

Any other suggestions? :D

If we follow his remakes of Friday the 13th and Nightmare, then this certainly will be a Nightmare. I wish Michael Bay will leave movies alone if he can't remake them to be any better!

  • The Turtles will most certainly be emo teenagers.
  • Multiple refrences to modern technology - e.g the TMNT's will listen to iphones.
  • It will have a damn long running time to make it seem real epic, but the ending will be incoherent and consist of mind dumbing explosions.
  • Non stop CGI.
  • There will be some very old looking school kiRAB involved. They will be very annoying and drive flash cars.

At least the cinematography will be sharp, but I'll wait for the DVD.:D

Can't they just do another CGI one like the 2007 TMNT? I love that movie! Dunno why it got slated, it stanRAB as a far better film than most animated efforts of today. It also looks amazing on Bluray.

Well didn't the Turtles want to pork April? :D She's cuter in the 2007 film :o
Why didnt the cartoon make April sexier? :o Loved the old cartoon and the 1990 film :)
