Miami Vice 2006

Well, I just saw a segment about it on the channel E! and they were talking about the musical approach. The producers mentioned that Jan Hammer has been approached to do a new remix of Crockett's theme and that John Murphy is doing the over all score. I would have preferred Jan to take them duties also to be honest. Murphy is the king of adaptation composers; hence he's no good at writing anything original I

i'm not sure if the film is related to the series or not. But i do know in the final episode of the TV series they didnt die. They were a bit pissed off after a hard undercover job and the end scene Crocket and Tubbs throw their badges away with LT Castillo looking on! Aparently There was a spin of series featuring Don Johnson reprising his role as Crockett but I'm Unsure if it was ever Broadcast? (And I'm not thinking of Nash Bridges)

How could it have been 'predictable' if you say you didn't understand it?

We never found out who the mole was (I wonder if they cut that bit?) but they did get most of the bad guys apart from the paramilitary bloke who was probably in cahoots with the US gov anyway hence the 'leaks'. Crockett sent Gong Li to Cuba so she could make a break from the criminal lifestyle and escape her eeevil 'lover' who may have thought she grassed them all up

I'd definately watch this film again...but on dvd with subtitles!

both my missus and i were really annoyed because we couldn't understand what was going on or who was who. We had an idea that they were going undercover because of a mole but we couldn't really understand what they were saying to each other. I love micheal manns work, i must have watched Heat and collataral dozens of times, but this seemed to be a let down compared to them. We almost got up halfway through to get a refund for the rubbish sound, but it seems that other people struggled to hear too. The second half was much better, and loved the trailer park / s*** storm shootout at the end. this film would have been much better if there had been less sex scenes, clearer diction and a more coherant plot. otherwise i loved the style, soundtrack and general feel.

The film Miami Vice has nothing to do with the TV show apart from the characters names and the fact that they are police!
I cant wait to see this film next week as it has been getting really good reviews so far. Here is part of a review for it I read on Chud.com:

"What matters is that Miami Vice as a whole is captivating, riveting, and thoroughly engaging. It

I predicted how they would save the girl and such.. That was the predictable bit. Along with the fact that it was very obvious from the club scene that the man was going to do something. It always happens. However, I didn't really understand the rest of it, such as why she was captured and who the man was.. Thanks for your explanation.

Really? The cinema I was at must of had complaints about it being too quiet, because it nearly deafened me. It seemed as though the sound for much of the explosions and action scenes was louder than the rest.

I just meant the sound was somewhat muffled when the characters were talking. I don't know if other people from different cinemas thought the same. I've heard in the future some cinemas may have earphones that allow you to listen to director commentaries whilst the film is on, perhaps there could be a screen with subtitles too? or a clearer audio track? I liked the film as Mann has a knack of creating cracking visuals that stay in the mind, I just had an issue with the sound. I really liked the way the film started without any titles, does anyone know of any other films that have no titles whatsoever?

I enjoyed it but found the plot confusing a couple of times. Overall though would give it 8 out of 10. And not being a fan of Colin Farrell, I was pleasantly surprised how good he was as Sonny Crockett.

Very disappointing. Dialogue far too quiet and difficult to hear what they said (followed by incredibly loud gunfire/explosions etc); one dimensional characters and wooden acting; weird plot whereby (as others have said) we nevere find out who the mole is although thast the whole point of the exercise; and pointless un-erotic sex scenes wheich just seem to be fillers??

This is such a good film and one of the best that I have seen this year!
Oh by the way elpaw who said that "A film the 18 certificate was invented for." Miami Vice is only a 15 cert film!

I thought it was total pants. No real storyline, I didn't care about any of the characters and Jamie Foxx was hardly in it. I wonder if he was contractually obliged to do it?

If you like films that are impossible to follow the plot but you like alot of action go and see Miami Vice.

This film was poorly directed but did have a good story. The only problem was it was impossible to follow.

The whole film was about drugs and yet it did not contain the word 'drug' for the first 90 minutes.

There is a scene at the end which was good but apart from that it was poor.

Jamie Foxx was brilliant but barely appeared in it. Colin Farrell was also good.

I don't no whether it was the accent of the characters or whether i'm death but the dialogue was far too quiet leading to the audience missing every other word

I give this film 2 smileys and i would not suggest people go and see it.

RATING: :) :)

I saw it on the night it came out and it was ok, there was barely anyone there. It just got a bit lackluster in the middle for a while, and to me it just got a bit muddled/confusing after the start (prob just me :P).

I actually enjoy watching the Real Miami Vice doccumentary/soap series on Bravo more.
