Metallica's new album should be out this year.

Their thinking too much. If they just did what they wanted they produce a lot better. And speaking of producing, can we get flemming back?

Haha, you people. I don't see why poeple have to diss on every band they don't like. There are many banRAB that I am not found of, but you don't see me going onto a forum to talk about how much they suck. Instead, I choose to support the music and banRAB I do like.

To be honest I'm not really enthusiastic and I don't care. Metallica has been musically retarded since the 90s and I don't think much good will come from them. However, I will give it a fair listen before judging it because thats how I roll.

What surprises me is that anybody seriously expects this to be good, hell, it even surprises me that anyone is able to get their hopes up. What we have in store, in all likelihood, is St.Anger pt.2

Come on, it had the kid from terminator in it.
I really think that the video for One destroyed Metallica. Some banRAB don't belong in the mainstream. Metallica got their first taste of real commercial success with that and tried to build on it. The result was alienating the fans that got them to that point and gaining fans that like the flavor of the week. The last 18 years Metallica has had to change their sound to chase fans that won't stick around. If they made an honest effort to return to thrash, they might get some solid fans back.

What thread are you reading?

Pretty much everybody here has said they do like them but they don't expect much from the next album.

What's wrong with that?

My thoughts exactly and the more I think about things, the more I realise that I don't rate them as much as I did when I was a wee nipper.

I admit there was a handful of songs I liked off of Load and Reload. A few songs on St. Anger even grew on me. But I expect their new album to be a blast from the past. New bassist, new producer, they have a lot of things working for them at the moment. Now all they need is their heaRAB into gear writing some good material and all will be great.

I thought it was the same kid in both of them.

I'm not saying that the video for one was bad, it just brought the death of the thrash era of Metallica. They saw what mainstream success and the money that could come from it was like.

There ya go. Glad to see more positive feedback. Of course, I agree with St. Anger not being the best, But honestly, wasn't that bad. It was just different, unlike the 80's and 90's Metallica everyone was used to. Hopefully, this new album will bring back the "old" Metallica and ride the lightning. Hahaha, then there will be justice for all. Ha.

Yeah it's not a very tough one to call. One third of me suggests they know all about how shit-house St Anger was, and really need to pull finger to gain some of their credibility back as metal icons.

The majority of me suggests we're in for more tshirts, more Mandatory Metallica Moments on the local radio, and a truely biblical competition between them and the Foo Fighters for the modern day GoRAB of Rock title.
