Metallica

Agree with the fact, that the Black Album set out to do what it wanted and that was to bring Metallica to the masses. Don`t agree about Load though, I thought this was the group doing something different and they did it well. Admittedly I can`t imagine their hardcore fans being impressed though.

When you compare Load to the mundane metal that rivals Megadeth were dishing out at the same time "Cryptic Writings" and "Risk" Load seems a relative masterpiece and I`m actually more of Megadteh fan than a Metallica.

today i heard Load by metallica for the first time and i dont understand why people hate this album?
i know its not the style of Metallica, but if u ignore the fact that this album is by Metallica you will love it.
so what do you think about this great album?

Favourite two Metallica Songs = Whiplash and Master Of Puppets, they really do it for me

Yes, I do. I wrote "track 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5" to emphasize that it doesn't really matter much which you pick.

By hard rock, I mean "hard rock", not something I made up myself.

Read this and see if you still think that it describes the Black Album very well :

.. which is why I asked pahuuuta to point out the blues in Metallica.

I don't think it's accurate at all to say that thrash was ever primarily focused on "dragons and the devil". One of the defining characteristics of the genre from the get go was the fact that the lyrics had moved away from typical metal themes like that, and influenced by punk, it instead focused on grittier, more real-world subject matter and social issues.

It's an opinion yes, I realise only now you have quoted me that in that instance I may have worded that badly and it probably came off more that I was trying to present it as fact.

The Black Album was the most successful, I'm not sure how you would measure whether it was the most "productive" though, or even what you really mean by that.

Load & ReLoad and The Black Album are decent recorRAB but I'm underwhelmed by them. St. Anger I did think was just a massive, epic fail. I cant find many positive things to say about that whereas I can for everything else they have released after AJFA. I thought the lyrics were terrible, even by Metallica's relatively lowish standarRAB. I thought the lyrics were the worst they had ever produced and one of the worst things about that record.

The Napster situation revealed their true character as musicians which only augmented the fact that they haven't released a good album in 20 years. They're a brand not a band.

yeah exactly, i see 'Metallica's Orion played on piano' i'm expecting some pretty epic piano playing. big heavy chord resonating at the start, furious percussive banging in the build ups, insanity in the leaRAB.

that clip was impressive and all for what it is, but where are the other 7 minutes of the track?

what would you consider the best than? and once again back to the song enter sandman, i never once said that its not a GOOD song, it was, when i first heard it, it still is, but im saying its over played and over rated, no where did i say its a bad song.
