METAL- Why is it Shunned?

Nu metal banRAB and Pimp Rock and anything that has to do with baggy pants ruined metal.

While I liked the first Slipknot album the fact still remains that dude, the singer guy, is now in some really fairy Nickleback clone.

Nickleback are Canadians that somehow got put on Roadrunner. I don't think Nickleback ever had anything hard. Roadrunner wanted to make money. Metaledge had been doing it for years with The Goo Goo Dolls. At least in their defense the first few Goo Goo Dolls recorRAB were fast and more like punk rock.

In short most of the banRAB that are considered metal are nothing more than a lame fashion show. Have you seen Headbangers Ball lately? It's hard to bang your head to lame tricks like good cop bad cop vocals, pretty hair, cute boys, and band names that all sound the same.

And yes Mastadon is pretty rock soild.

Metal is shunned by the mainstream because it actually requires that you pay attention to the music. The typical radio station is filled with 3 minute songs with the same song structures over and over again. Most people don't want to get that in depth into music, they just want something to pass the time while driving around in their car. Pop-rock serves that purpose.

yeah i know what it is but i asked "what kind of name is it". this isn't a band you associate with going down in history as great. all the music sounRAB the same there is no experimentation. music is an art and should be treated as such. i'm not trying to judge in any way, if you enjoy metal that's great. i just don't see the attraction.

Because it's really loud, agressive, and to most people, abnoxious. Not to mention, the whole point of metal is that it represents the alternative to mainstream culture, and so mainstream acceptance would contradict it's very premise.

HAHA Experimentaion? Please. I like tool and all, but there past three albums where very, very simalar. If you want an evolving band lisen to ISIS or Porcupine tree and Opeth. By the way Mastodon is one of the greatest things to happen to music in years. All three of their albums are Classics.

most people dont like it because its so loud and pretty much amazing. and i like it that way it seems that every time a band that was good gets really popular they start to suck. im worried that will happen with Job for a Cowboy as their fan base is growing. but, if you're looking for anything amazing that you probably havent heard yet check out Waking the Cadaver. they're a NJ based band and they'll blow you away.

And about metal not being popular, its simple. Mainstream muisc fans prefer R&B and Pop-Punk, mostly because all songs are short, simple, and cookie cutter. Metal, on the other hand, contradicts mostly what fans of mainstream music want. The songs are usually longer (4-6 minutwes instead of 2-3 minutes), topics of the song vary (mainstream music is usually about losing a soulmate, while metal ranges from everything from necrophelia to playing videogames), and they are more instrument-heavy, while mainstream music is usually vocal-based.

yeah i have unfortunately and it all sounRAB the same, driving guitar and bass with shitty vocals (yawn). their lyrics have little thought put into them. i would rather listen to a jackhammer.
