Metal phones?

Here is what I'm looking for --

1) Phone made of metal
2) Slider (preferred) or Flip
3) Quad Band
4) Camera
5) Unbranded/Unlocked
6) Someplace that doesn't rape me for shipping.
7) Card memory is a + but not necessary.

Whattya guys think?

I know this defines the RAZR but I'm looking for something a little different that everyone doesn't have.

Nah.. But it's hard to find phones that are triband that have 850 instead of 900.

I need something durable because I'm tough on my stuff.

eta: if I paid $800 for the 8800 my wife would kill me.

The Nokia E50 is part metal, and it has very good build quality. It is a bar phone though, and the camera is mediocre these days.

Nokia will be announcing the E65 at 3GSM this month, and it will have metal and leather construction. Here are some nice pictures, and here are the specs from Ring Nokia.

Have you thought about other Motorola phones like the RIZR?

I would have said BenQ-Siemens EF81, EF71, and EL71, the first two being flips, and the last being a slider. The last two are available in either silver or black and they match all of your criteria except for quad-band. They are Euro-triband handsets (900/1800/1900). Do you happen to be on Cingular and that's why 850 is so important to you? Have you tested reception using a non domestic triband handset??

I'm actually using consumercellular.com. They're resellers of airtime and use mostly the Cingular systems, I believe. Atm, I'm using a Nokia 6030 850/1900 that is getting pretty good reception most places I go.

From the research I've been doing, though, it seems that it is pretty important to have the ability to use both 850 and 1900, right?

I'm not really up on all the GSM stuff.. I'm a recent Verizon convert and am still learning.

This eBay shop has them for a very good price. Also, they are located in NY so you won't have to wait for the phone to come from Germany like I did. But like I said though make sure your area doesn't rely too much on 850 MHz before you spring for it. If you want a black one, PM me; I'll help you source it from Germany.

Good luck!

Hi,
I'm considering buying the EL71; but I need an answer for these questions:
- Can I download a software manager for files (music/pics/videos) if the cell doesn't come with one?
- I wasn't able to find any specific transfer cable on ebay(actually, only one from germany). Can someone point out a place to find a cheap one?
- Alternatively, I found some claimed "universal" bluetooth dongles on ebay. will they work with this phone?
I will be goin to africa for 6months, so I just dont want to be stuck there..with nothing to do
Thanks,
