Less than two hours left until the special, and no talkback has appeared. That's surprising, considering Wal-Mart's promotion. When I went earlier this week, there were WAL-MART exclusive Madagascar stuffed animals, board games, sweaters, blankets, and clothes. Almost all of which was Christmas-themed or holiday-themed. I'm also surprised that Julien and the penguins will be in the special, considering they have more than enough screen time on Nickelodeon. Anyway, I'm excited to see more Madagascar...I think. While I loved the films, I'm worried that the series will become another Shrek-like franchine; where sequels and spin-offs are pumped out until the cash cow is squeezed dry [which hasn't happened to Shrek yet]. Sure, Madagascar, doesn't have a broadway musical or theme park ride, but I'm still worried about the franchise ruining its good name. And a CHRISTMAS SPECIAL? I'm worried it'll be as bad as Shrek the Halls. And I'm not just saying that because I'm Jewish.

"Merry Madagascar" - Talkback (SPOILERS)

I?m worried about this as well. The ?Madagascar? movies are by no means realistic, but they were grounded in realism to some extent. I?m not sure if I like the idea of throwing in Santa Claus and having all of the characters work together to deliver presents. However, I?ll watch it primarily to see what they do with the penguins. Do they have their old designs from the movies or are their designs from ?The Penguins Of Madagascar? now canon? What about their personalities? Their voices? The penguins have gone through a lot of changes and it?ll be interesting to see what they decide to do.

I suspect that they?ll just revert to movie form in all aspects. I guess we?ll see.

I heard that Merry Madagascar will break the record for the earliest premiere of a Christmas special.

I too hope that this is better than Shrek the Halls. That just sucked, but I don't find Shrek entertaining anymore, so that could be just me.

Well...there was a television at Wal-Mart in the middle of a Merry Madagascar display, showing clips and such. It's pretty much reverting to the movie.

Say Huntsman, you appear to be one of the most mature, yet cartoon-loving people on this board. Wait---mature and cartoon-loving? THAT'S IMPOSSI---

*universe implodes from the paradox*

Man… After watching “The Penguins Of Madagascar” for so long, the penguins in this don’t seem right. Kowalski’s old voice just doesn’t fit his character anymore.

The plot for this seems to have a lot in common with the “Brandy & Mr. Whiskers” Christmas special. It’s mostly identical up to this point, in fact, but I’m sure that’s just a coincidence. Regardless, I can’t say that I’m liking this too much at the moment.

Talk about a mixed bag.

I cringed when Santa started..."shaking his booty". There were definately some funny parts, such as the over-active little girl, but some parts were---I mean, what on EARTH does bi-polar disorder have to do with a Romeo and Juliet relationship?

I'll need to rewatch before forming my complete opinion...because I don't know if I liked or disliked this special. Or somewhere in the middle. There were some good, parts, some bad parts, some rushed-to-fit-time-limit parts, some filler...

Mixed bag, man. Mixed bag.

[Gotta love Julien's "girlfriend", though.]

Danny Jacobs played Julien (I guess Sacha Baron Cohen was busy) and Cedric The Entertainer played Maurice in this special. That said, I think the special was great. I especially loved how Private fell in love with Cupid the reindeer.

Cedric The Entertainer voiced Maurice, and Danny Jacobs voiced Julien.

Anyway, I thought this was a pretty good. I particurally thought Private and the female reindeer's romance was cute and funny, and there were a few other funny bits as well, like the choral version of "I Like To Move It". It was really, really predictable, though. I wasn't expecting any big twists or anything, but it just seemed to take 2 extremely cliched Christmas special ideas (Main characters deliver presents for Santa, greedy person learns the spirit of giving) and pretty much presenting them by the book. Overall, though, it was a pretty fun special. I'm probably give it 3 out of 5 stars.

It was joke. The peguins were from the South Pole and Reinders were from the North Pole. Private and Cupid relationship made them bi-polar .

I was surprised at the end Alex the Lion got the bump on the head and had amnesia like Santa Claus did.

How did Jim Cummings voice one of Santa's reindeer with a German or Russian accent?

I was watching this with my family last night, but my mother changed the channel when Santa Claus started dancing.:D

Eh... I loved the Madagascar movies, but this was a really weak, greed-fueled special. Of course, just about every major production is made with profit in mind, but it's not supposed to be so obvious.

yeah, I agree about Kowalski.. I think he had only one line in this one.. I'm too used to Jeff Bennett now..

so let's see.. Skipper has Lola the Dashboard Doll.. Rico has his doll (forgot the name).. Kowalski had a brief crush on a Dolphin.. and possibly that animal control officer's truck in that one episode.. and Private had a crush on Cupid.. (though I thought Vixen was the only female reindeer) hmm...:confused:
