8 813 Chris New member Aug 17, 2009 #2 In my opinion using both outboards I would prefer the Yamaha. Mercury is reliable but nothing beats Yamaha. The quality is great and it actually LASTS. A bit longer than Mercury. Yamaha has the greatest customer service and is very well known get the yamaha you won't be dissapointed
