Mercedes S550 or Lexus LS600hL? Reliability is important.?

I am working with my aunt in looking for a new car and she has decided that one of the more ostentatious choices such as the Maybach or Rolls are too in-your-face. Now, she is looking mainly at the S550 4matic and LS600hl. She will be driving. She has a long commute and spends a ton of time on flat freeways (20k month). She is worried though that the reliability of the MB will be much, much less than that of the LS. With this amount of miles, reliability is important. So, is the LS the right choice or the S550?
Oh, and "Spirited diving" is not her thing, most of the driving is on flat, open freeways.
