Mercedes benz v. toyota?

So the average Toyota costs around $25,000 right? Why do people buy a toyota? it's reliable, it's inexpensive, it's safe, it's comfortable, it is good on gas. Some other reasons too. What if lets pretend Mercedes Benz drops its prices to Toyota prices but keeps everything else the same. Will more people be buying Mercedes benz instead of Toyota?

Actually, the MSRP on my '08 4Runner was $38K.

And I will agree with you, that's 1 reason why I chose Toyota, the brand holds it's value ridiculously well. Plus it's the same as Lexus so that could be a reason. idk?

Toyota is a great car manufacturer, and is well known, but doesnt have the hipe of a benz. Benz has been around for a long time, is dedicated to the customers inconically compared to other manufacturers, and is targeted towards the luxury and beauty. It is beleived that Benz is better because of the quality of the manufacture and parts, and the no cut's policy, but because of this they are very pricey. Toyota does make very efficient cars, but Amerca's fanatism for efficiency is pretty new, it is unknown but Benz has a diesel variety of the E320 Bluetec, which gets 40 mpg, and better if driven responsibly. Although this variety is rare in America due to the stigma of diesels being load and whatnot, which was created back when GM built a diesel engine in the cadillac that failed miserably. Obviously though this stigma is no longer true, the diesel engine in most new cars are just as quite as gas cars, and are much more efficient if designed to be so (due to the higher power of the fuel and the method of the diesel engine itself). Yes Toyota makes great and cheap efficient cars, but when it comes to it their are many other manufacturers that compete with Toyota and do so very well.

You would still have more people buying Toyota's than Mercedes. Mainly because of product loyalty. People that have owned Toyota's are more likely to buy another one than to buy a Mercedes.

Chances are they would by more Mercedes. But some people would still buy Toyota, because it's cheaper to repair when things go wrong.

Definitely, i would buy a mercedes. Yes toyotas might be nice, but come on....mercedes is also about what's under the engine and they are more luxurious on the inside than toyota. People don't just buy them for the price.
