...the computers.? Memory chip in my mobile (used as flash drive on computer) stops being recognised by the computers.

I have a spice (mobile manufacturer) mobile (model s-580) with facility to add memory chip which can be used to store media files played on phone. The memory chip can also be used as flash drive when the phone is switched off.

I have 1 gb memory card installed. It worked nicely for about 4 months. From today computers (with xp, vista and ubuntu-linux) stopped recognising the memory card. But file manager in phone do recognise the card and contents are displayed and played in media player of phone. Also the same chord is used to charge the phone battery and to connect the phone to computer via usb port. I can charge the battery using the chord.

So where is the fault?

its just gotten corrupted... copy everything on it by emailing it to yourself from the phone or bluetoothing it to a laptop, then use your phone or computer to format it... you should be good to go after that :).

If you tried the usb ports on more than one computer, then I would say that the cord is bad.The voltage for charging is getting throught but the data connection has gone bad.Try a new cable.
