I agree with alot of the characters already mentioned, so I'm going to try and name some that haven't been yet, that I find memorable.

Beetlejuice - Beetlejuice
The Wicked Witch Of The West - The Wizard Of Oz
Willy Wokna - WW&TCF
Dr. Frank N. Furter - The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Clark Griswold - The National Lampoon Movies
Chunk - The Goonies
Stanley Ipkiss - The Mask
Captain Jack - TPOTC Series
Rocky - Rocky
Norman Bates - Psycho
Ronald Miller - Can't Buy Me Love
The Terminator - The Terminator
Baby - Dirty Dancing

I think all the main characters in the lord of the rings trilogy will never be forgotten they were just amazing , told the story afantastically and gave fantastic performances . but my fav's are gandolf, legolas pippin and merry.

I agree with both of those for reasons we all know. :)

Also, a memorable character that I feel the need to watch whenever too much time passes by is Jerry Maguire. Tom Cruise hit it out of the park acting wise and this is one movie that is part of my life.

Who are some that you will never forget?

I have a huge list. And not all of them were necessarily "good people." ;)But they were bold, and charismatic, and remarkable in their own way (even in sublty). Which of course, is all in due respect to the actors who portray them.

These are the ones that stand out the most to me:

Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in Alien: The first real female action figure. She kicked ass. And she outlasted all the men! ;)

Bill the Butcher (Daniel-Day Lewis) in Gangs of New York: Charismatic. Frightening. And so complex. You almost liked him even though he was clearly vicious.

Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey) in The Usual Suspects: He's got lots of surprises.

Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) in The Godfather: "The most complex mobster ever portrayed onscreen." Don't think I need to go in great depths to explain this one.

Hannibal Lector (Anthony Hopkins) in Silence of the Lambs: Also does not need explaining.

Also obvious: Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp), any horror-flick icon, Jack Torrence (Jack Nicholson) in The Shining, Ace Ventura, etc.

Who do you always remember as a great character?
