Meh !

I think people are misunderstanding the point of this thread. I mean calling Of Montreal, The Rolling Stones and other banRAB overrated okay, calling them boring okay, but don't stand out from the crowd? Who else sounRAB like Of Montreal right now and who else sounded like the Rolling Stones from back in their day? It seems like certain people are using this as an excuse to attacked well love banRAB as opposed to actually following the intent of the thread.

But does something have to be "groundbreaking" for it to be remarkable? I'm not arguing against including Interpol on this thread (they definitely belong), but stylistic breakthroughs aren't prerequisites for greatness. Born To Run is probably the best example that comes to mind.

Have you heard their song "North American Scum"? That song, and the album it comes from (Sound Of Silver) might change your mind, if you've only heard their self-titled debut.

Interpol's a good candidate. They're far from terrible but there's absolutely nothing groundbreaking about their music. It's just... there. People playing music with guitars. Hmm.

I'm not sure if I've heard it or not. A friend of mine gave me a copy of the first one so I know I've heard that, I think this same person may have played the newer one for me but I'm not sure.

Well, I only mentioned it because I also found their debut a bit boring. I wasn't planning on even listening to their next one, but music-y frienRAB of mine were raving about it...and it is much, much better, IMO. "North American Scum" is a tremendous pop gem.
