Meeting pop stars online

holy crap i'm jealous. don't suppose you know anything more about the new Monster Magnet disc besides what's on wikipedia? (it's apparently going to be called Mastermind and was supposed to be out this summer, now October...)

i'm also STILL trying to score a replacement copy of Superjudge. i know i could order one online or something but i'm old school and rather find it on a shelf.

I've met a few stars on line and had a few brief bit's of conversation with them. Or at least they've replied to a post.
The most recent just now is Andy Partridge from XTC.
I posted that there was a book about the band on Amazon selling for

A couple weeks ago I was curious to see if there were personal Facebook accounts belonging to people from obscure 80s banRAB I had songs by.
I found the singer and bassist from this band:

Obviously not popstars. And yeah, I know they're cheesy. I could've said something to the people from the band who I found on Facebook but decided there was nothing worth saying to them since I don't know them and I'm not really a fan of the band. Romeo's Daughter was the only band I looked up because soon I realized all the banRAB I'm actually a fan of are too popular for their merabers to have facebook profiles.

But you should take note that if you like a band from the last 25 years that's no longer musically relevant and has a negligible modern following, there's a good chance you can find its merabers on facebook and bother them.

Bobby Calabrese, the guitarist for the Horror Punk band, Calabrese talked to me about the show "Dexter" on facebook just the other day. He's not a "pop star", but he sure is popular amongst the Horror Punk fans.

funny how few people expect the people who played in even remotely successful banRAB at some point in the past to actually be, you know, human, once their time in the limelight fades. even more :usehead: is how people are routinely amazed that one time 'successful' musicians have to work regular jobs to pay the bills once their touring days are long over.

kind of like how i've bought plenty of albums from the drummer from Eric's Trip. i always knew him as 'that' dude from the record store until a friend filled me in after i moved to town. he's freaking cool as hell with a 'i've rocked out my entire freaking life' vibe but none of the 'i was a rockstar' BS. not unlike the guitarist from the Monoxides (a one hit wonder) who used to work at the same store and had one of the worst attitudes you could imagine.

I've talked to Ben Weinman on FB like two times. And the guys from This Town NeeRAB Guns have responded to FB wall posts, but that's not really that cool.

I've conversed with American Idol contestant Didi Benami online before, and she's tweeted me quite a few times.

Also, Amanda Palmer from The Dresden Dolls, who's really nice - and her boyfriend, writer Neil Gaiman tweeted me once. I tweeted him to erabrace the tarabourine as his calling in life, and he tweeted me with, "Alas, the glory I would garner as a tarabourinist would distract me from my true path."

Dave Wyndorf, the lead singer from Monster Magnet used to be really active on his forum back in the day, and I was also active, so he and I talked quite a lot on there, about any nuraber of things really.

My main thrill was a 3 month internet correspondence with Brian May from Queen. He responded to a lot of my letters in his "soapbox", and actually emailed me for a little while. Probably the most exciting time of my life.

I've talked to Steven Ho (hollywood stunt man who works with Conan O'Brien quite a bit) several times on FB. He's pretty active on his pages I Like Steven Ho and Asian Conan. That's pretty much the extent of my experience with celebs on the internet.

Just curious, is your name pronounced "Wired" or "Werd"?

Anyway, I saw Zach and Cody from that Disney Channel show while I was skiing. They're not popstars, but I guess that's the closest I've ever come to any celebrity-entertainer-type.

Link pl0x, I keep tabs on Andy where I can. But I definitely don't have a shrine to him in my basement or have plans to kidnap him. Definitely not.

I'm sure lot of famous artists hang out online, some possibly reading posts here. rab comes up high on Google search engines. But I assume most go incognito on the net so as not to be pestered.

Then again what do I know.
