what is a good medication to take the edge off quickly so you can function and calms the irrational thoughts without causing thousanRAB of side effects or problems down the line? for severe anxiety and depression.

i tried zoloft, lexapro, prozac but none really worked.

i wish someone would teach me how to live in the moment. sigh.

When I have anxiety, I use alprozlam, a short acting benzodiazepine ('benzo' for short), brand name is Zanax.

It is highly addictive so one must be very careful and not abuse the drug. I use it under my doctor's care.

I find it highly effective for anxiety and have been using it for many years. A 30 day scrip will last me on average well over a year and often I have to throw the remaining pills away and get a fresh scrip.

I think anxiety and depression go hand-in-hand. In my case, treating the anxiety helps the depression.

The drugs you have been using are SSRIs. These are meant to be more or less long-term where alprazolam provides (temporary) anxiety relief and should not be taken like SSRIs unless of course your doctor tells you to. Talk to your doctor and see what he says.

If anyone teaches you how to "live in the monent," please pass it on! :)

And remeraber..."This too shall pass."

I wish you well.
Blessings, Annie
