you guys are hysterical. but seriously Kelly I have tried everything in the book and then I consulted a nurse I knew and she said to try 4 tablespoons of castor oil that they sell at drug stores and by god within 5 hours,,,,presto....problem solved. It was the greatest feeling ever. You should try it for real...it really works. I had never been so excited about going to the bathroom but after weeks of Percocet every 4 hours, my gut was like concrete. no More!!

I have seen it in the laxative isle at the pharmacy and also check where the herbal teas are at any store.
(My son does the same thing LOLOL)
Good luck
 Kelly

I had problems post-op...

To clear the "blockages" I used these effervescent suppositories. Hideous feeling :dizzy: but they worked fantastically well. The other stuff I was taking in the mornings (powders you dissolve in water to make a "lovely citrus drink" - so why do they always taste so disgusting!?!) didn't help me get "regular" as they were supposed too, so I really cant help with that side of things I'm afraid, sorry. Not sure how long you can keep using the "magic bullets" for, as my husband called them, but I'd recommend you try them for some relief at least.

Hope you feel better soon.

OK Kelly,

Try this. My DIL mother is a nurse in the VA hospital. She told me that when they have someone who is "plugged up" they give them a glass of warm prune juice and it does the trick in one hour. I am dying to have you try and see if it works.... You notice that I didn't want to try it, but I would be glad for you to try it. She said that it has never failed them. Don't know why, but it seems that warming it in the microwave does something. Either that or you are just so desparate by that point........

I think it depenRAB greatly on how much one eats!

I take a Colace pill (well, generic brand of Colace) every morning and every night with my Vicodin. If I have to take more pain meRAB one day or if I just feel not quite "normal", I also eat 3-5 prunes sometime during the day. They have cherry essence and orange essence pitted prunes now. Believe it or not, they're actually pretty good! And they really do the job, too!

Experiment around with all these good suggestions everyone has given you. You'll find what works for you.

You go, girl!!! (Sorry, couldn't resist!) :D

Really pepper banana's are high in fiber to. I will cut them out and see what happens. Thanks

I cannot believe i am just now reading this thread, you guys are so funny and i am cracking up over here and then i realized I havent poo in a few days uh oh. And my meRAB just increased, i already had constipation issues anyway, but the doc ordered senna and meta mucil and sometimes i take diet tea i guess i need to get on top of things.

I learned along time ago, if you take narcotic pain meRAB you must take a stool softener/ laxitive with the pain pills. Every day. I am on large doses of oxy along with other pain meRAB and I just go to the evil "W*lmart"and get the generic stool softener $3.84 and the stool s. with laxitive $2.64 and take two each of those every day. If you buy the brand name softeners you'll pay three times that. Between the stool s and some fruit every day,, no worries mate!!

Seems the longer I am on the meRAB the worse the constipation is. I am on prescription laxitive (lactulose) that isn't working anymore I go maybe once every 2 weeks. I can't stand to eat because I feel full all the time I just feel bloated and miserable. I can't seem to find anything to get me going. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate.

I used fibercon but have been able to back off that. Each morning I have myself a big bowel of high fiber cereal like fiberone and I have stopped using white breaRAB and began eating high fiber breaRAB. Now I have noooooooo problems and it is all natural.

Not to be totally gross but I heard that you should go at least 2 foot a day. LOL Is this really true or was someone playing with me? ;)

Hi IhATeB, You also might want to try using dieters tea, I've seen it at some walmarts, most drug stores and health food stores carry it. It has senna in the tea, be careful, if you do not follow the instructions carefully it can cause cramping and non-stop going. I have had bowel issues most of my life and this dieters tea has been a life saver for me. I hope you find something that works for you soon, I can't imagine not going for two weeks, I think I would die. I get that sick full feeling if I haven't gone in two days let alone two weeks, you have my greatest sympaty on this one. Usta:wave:

Cornelia,

I eat one in the morning for breakfast with my dates...sounRAB like a little old lady. they really hold me and I don't get hungry on them..

ONE THING I SHOULD WARN YOU ABOUT LADIES!!!! These tend to cause -ahem- blush- a tad bit of -well actually alot of how shall we say it --- gas. I don't want anyone to think something is wrong.... :D

Just another thought....

My sister swears by prune juice. I personally can't stand it and up chucked when trying..lol She says that once you get used to it, it's not that bad. The good thing is that she's very regular from it.

Good luck I sure hope you get something to work for you soon.

Did any body hear of or have luck with a Herbal pill from BOTANIC CHOICE called #739 Colon Cleanse Formula 500mg? I am kind of leary of taking these herbal things, in my opinion less pills is better. Any thoughts on these type of pills?

Kelly,

Pepper is right. In some folks, my family included, bananas tend to consitpate instead of doing the other. When my kiRAB were little and had loose stools I would give them a 'nana to help stop the "runs." You might try cutting back on that.

are you drinking alot of fluiRAB? As in 6-8 glasses of water on top of whatever other beverages you are comsuming? STaying away from sodas that are dehydrating?

OK I'm new to all this(and the message board but ya'll cracked me up thank you !)..sorta LOL. Been on pain meRAB for 2 years and was in the hospital for an obstruction in Dec when I took lortab. Dr's just switched me to diluadid 3 weeks ago and though its helping my pain better than anything ever has its constipated me worse than ever.

:(

Dr gave me Senokot-S and I've tried taking it 3 times with horrible cramping each time. I've done enemas *shudder* and up chucked from the cramps they cause. I've had bright red blood in my stool off and on this week, even tried a manual decompaction. This stuff is so gross omg LOL. And stool softers alone do nada.

In the morning I'm going to my Dr to ask about Miralax. A nurse friend of mine said its a miracle drug for those with Senna sensitivites. I'm going on vacation by myself in a week while hubby remodels our bedroom. I'll be gone 15 days and OMG I have to find a solution for this before I leave. **puls hair out*

Kelly, my family and Dr always gave us the BRAT diet for diarrhea. BRAT =

Bananas
Apple
Rice
Toast

So avoid those at all costs they will bind you up more, Yikes ! Thank you all for this topic.. I don't feel so alone now ! (its a year old I know but still.. I feel like a found a new internet home weeeee !)
