Hi all,

I have been taking lexapro 20mg for about 3 months & am not seeing much improvement. i started on 10mg about 2 yrs ago and was dealing, but then i had a bad bout and my doc. suggested to up my dosage. my questions are has anyone else not found lexapro that effective and if so, what was helpful (another SSRI, SNRI, etc.). my doc said that i could try effexor xr, increase my lexapro or add buspar but is not leaning in one direction - basically, he's leaving it up to me. not sure what to do...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

also, on another note, does anyone out there have anxiety about anxiety (i guess it's similar to panic disorder). that's what i have anxiety about. i feel like if i get anxious, im never going to feel normal again, get fearful thoughts and depressed about it. i havent read any other posts about this type of anxiety.

thanks for any insights!

Before you decide to try Effexor, you should know that it has the shortest half life of all the antidepressants and can be one of the more challenging ones to stop if you would need to. I know many people find it very effective for relieving anxiety, so I

thank so much for your advice. I do think the buspar route may be best & am going to give it a shot.

your last line made me laugh ive been told i have gad, panic disorder, etc. but all the different names and categories i feel are kind of redundant - it is all really just sucks! lol!

Good luck! I'd suggest trying that too. If you STILL don't notice a difference after a few months, then maybe consider trying something new altogether. I think it's best to try making smaller changes FIRST before making a drastic change. I hope it works for you! Prozac has really changed my life in a great way, but ANY medication may work for some people and not for others. You just have to give them a try!
