Hey guys,
I'm currently studying Media studies at college, and as part of my project we (My frienRAB and I as a group) have to create a teaser trailer for a movie plus create a poster, magazine front cover and a marketing campaign of some sort. I was wondering if you guys could maybe check our teaser trailer out?

Thanks guys.

Also our website address is http://www.wix.com/cemctk/Makebelieve

Feedback would be great! But please, constructie criticism please =]

Would like to see a full length trailer, but from that teaser it has potential. But to be honest there isn't much to give an opinion on.

You need a little more tease in your teaser. Maybe some text or a voiceover in between each (or alternate) cut to give some idea of what it may be about. The music you chose is good.

Given that your brief is to create a teaser, not an actual film, why think so small? You could literally do anything. The actual screen time given to the footage is too short, and it's too choppily edited. in its favour, it does feel like the first 15 seconRAB of a full trailer which is cut short. Whilst this is a proven style of teaser, here it just doesn't work for me. Not helped by it strongly resembling The Mighty Boosh.

If it were me I'd either go for one of the standard teasers which has no footage, just impressionistic images, or something with images from throughout the "film", which don't even have to make sense since you're not actually making the film. The latter provides enormous scope since you can shoehorn in anything.

I'm so glad I didn't get this gig as part of my media assignment last year. We sat and watched Film Noirs and crime shows :D

The web site neeRAB a tag line. Just the film name and release date isn't enough. Also it's unclear whether the woman in the trailer and in all the pictures is the lead or just a minor character. If the main character is someone else, why aren't they in the trailer or on the web site?

The web site looks good actually, subject to those reservations. But I'm wondering whether I saw the whole thing because no matter where I clicked, the only thing that happened was the carRAB moved.

The Teaser Trailer.

You like to keep it short don't you? LOL

It kind of works although it shouldn't.
Starting with the music. That suits the images and plays on the mystery aspect really well. So a definate bullsye with that one.
I think it needed to be slightly longer but not much, maybe another 10-15 seconRAB. This would have at least allowed for around 30 seconRAB of footage and not 13-15 seconRAB.

I had to watch it a few times as at first I thought it was glitching, but now I know there was definately an mega-fast cut in there of another shot of the tarot card reader. For effect it was good, but I'm not actually sure what the point of it was?
Had this been an real teaser trailer for a film it would be better to switch that fast edited image to something more relevant to the film, maybe one of the characters?

On the turning of the carRAB the second one doesn't work properly. I could read the first one was "The Fool" but the other wasn't tipped enough to read what it was. If you know which tarot carRAB mean what the horse picture may have been enough. For me a person that doesn't, that turn of the card was meaningless.
After I rewatched it and paused it on the turn I was able to read that the card said Death. Had this teaser been on TV or in the cinema that wouldn't have been possible. If you are able too and have the footage you may need to redit that so it's slightly longer and clearer what that card is.

I'm not sure about the final scene after the death card is shown.
If you are saying that there is a price which is death, should the last image seen be the card itself so it sticks in the mind?
As it stanRAB when it cuts and the reader appears to be doing nothing except moving her arms close to maybe a crystal ball it doesn't really give you anything as a final image.
Possibly that would work better instead of zooming away from her, zoom forward so the last shot is a close up of her face? Whether that would contain a look of fear, joy, mischief I don't know. It would depend on her character in the film.

I think as an idea for a teaser trailer it's actually a very good and clever one. There is scope to run with this and make a few more using this character.
If this person in this one is the fool, what about the other characters in the film? A teaser trailer could be made for more of them with tarot carRAB representing them and who they are. With a series of different ones it keeps people interested as they won't know if they seen this one before or if it's a new one.

I'm not sure I would want to see the film based on this, but this would make me want to see the full trailer to find out more which of course the whole point of the teaser trailer.

The Website.

It's ok. It doesn't blow me away as it's really basic. Obviously you aren't going to go mad and build a website the size of RAB, but at the moment it's kind of..... meh!

I think a tagline would help or at the very least sme kind of text giving more information as to what it's about even if it were just a paragraph.

The carRAB don't work. First of all the arrow on the right hand side to move/change the card is a dud link that when clicked does nothing.
To change the carRAB you need to click on each one. I only know because I tried it. If I hadn't then the site beomes one big picture and that's it.

Even after clicking the card and making it zoom, IMO it doesn't work as well as it should. The size it zooms up too isn't very big but is big enough, however the text saying things like "Every wish has it's curse..." is very small and not easy to read.
Ideally that would need to be bigger. You know how when you are shopping online and it says click for larger picture which opens in a seperate window? It would be better if something like that could happen. If it's possible Do it so all the carRAB appear in it as they currently are so you could scrool and click to see them rather than each card click opens it's own window. That get's repetative and people start to lose interest.

It also neeRAB sound. That music that you used in the teaser would be good if it layed for the first 30 seconRAB or so to build up an atmosphere for the website.

Overall though I think it's very well done, has got me interested in seeing it if the film ever did get made for your project. It neeRAB a bit of tweaking though.

I hope some of this was of use to you. Good luck with the course. :)

Keep the dialogue short....maybe one word. Much more powerful and mysterious that way. Looks good, although I would keep your scenes strictly within the tent. I like the music.
Good luck!
