media player wont play?

hi can some one help me my windows media player wont play my dvds keeps telling me i need a compatible decoder can anyone tell me how to fix this i am using windows xp professional the dvds are not copys
 
First: Click Start, click Run, type dvdupgrd /detect, and then press ENTER. This will show you any existing decoders.

If there is one, then: Click Start, click Run, type dvdupgrd /upgrade, and then press ENTER.


If there isn't one, go to the following Microsoft page for available decoder plug-ins:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx
