media player/itunes help please?

I recently downloaded a VLC media player. Now all my MP3s should the VLC icon rather than the Itunes player icon and I can't add the songs to Itunes, Help me please :(
Does Itunes really blow?? is there any other way to put music on my ipod outside of Itunes?
 
in vista or windows 7 you are going to want to open your control panel, go to programs, then default programs, then set default programs. From there it is pretty straight forward.

The process is similar in XP, just maybe a bit more complex.

And no itunes does not blow. I use itunes all the time.
 
you can right click on any of the files you need to 'fix', select 'open with' and when selecting itunes again, at the bottom is 'make this the default app for this file type'. however, itunes blows...

well the first time i helped my sis w/ her ipod, another aspect of apple which kinda sucks btw, wsa to simpply use windows and cut and paste them into it. however, you have to know which folder the ipdo uses and may require some digging around in it when you plug it in. however, that was a first or second gen and some people here have suggested this no longer works. i believe they just haven't tried and don't really know how to use a computer tho, inho.
