What are your opinions on the hype the media are giving to swine flu.
They are at it again - Swine flu COULD affect 40% of UK population IF the outbreak becomes pandemic.
Once more the media are stirring with a big wooden spoon.

I was working for the NHS during the bird flu hoohaa. I'm taking it all with a big pinch of salt!

every time i turn on the TV i hear all about the dangers of swine flu. yes, it could be somewhat dangerous and i want to know about it but not over and over again!

yes, they are stirring it up.

but i think everyone would really start to panic if there were 3 - 5 cases where people died. Then it would be the general public going mental.

Its a shame the news can present information in an unbiased, calm and orderly manner...

Everyday we are wiped out of earth due to HUMAN FLU.Probably swine, bird / or any other flu can not be more dangerous to us.We survived & will continue to survive. No need to panic.

I think the media are perhaps hyping it more than they need to, but it's good that people should be aware of it, but not panic. The virus may already be dying anyway, so I wouldn't worry.

From what I've read it seems to be no more serious than normal flu.
There's always one scare story or another in the news:

Avian flu; a handful of deaths in the elderly and infirm.

"Killer" bees; they were supposed to be a menace that would swarm across America.. Never happened.

"Dirty bombs"; dangerous yes, but only because of the explosives. In reality they don't work and the debris can easily be cleaned up.

Salmonella in eggs; a possible risk but almost insignificant.

When we've all forgotten about Swine flu there will be another scare story to replace it.

I don't think they are fussing enough, Im really worried about it. They need to stop it before it starts but they are not, they will try doing something when it has broken out and the damage is done.
