I typically pump for atleast 15 minutes, or about 5 minutes after the last drop of milk to help increase my supply. I usually get 6 oz all together every 2-3 hours.

I agree with Teeny, hand expressing or breast compressions can help add up to an ounce of milk. I massage them starting from just under my armpit all the way down and squeeze them together. The pumps can't get it all!

For those of you ladies who use the Medela Pump In Style Backpack pump...

how long does it take you to finish pumping using it, and how much do you usually pump on average? I know everyone's body is different i'm just curious....

Thanks!!

I use the Pump in Style. I only pump for 10-15 minutes 2 times a work day (every three hours). I get like 3 oz (total) each time. That's just me...my baby is almost 10 months old so it also varies for how old your baby is. When she was younger I would pump every 2 hours at work for 10-15 minutes and get 5 oz each time. As she gets older and eats more solids the amount and frequency has gone down.

I used it. I pumped for around 20 minutes at a time, or until my milk completely stopped coming out. Generally by 20 minutes it was done, but sometimes the milk was flowing well and I did it for longer.

I always used the highest setting, but that was just me. When I first started pumping I used the lower settings and worked my way up.

I use the Pump In Style. I use it twice a day (9:30 am and 2:30 pm) while at work only (not on weekends). It takes me about 15 minutes until the flow stops. I usually get 6-9 oz. a day (sometimes more).

A good trick I use to get more milk-Once no milk is flowing through the pump, I hand express into the bottles. There's always some milk left that the pump just cannot extract. This usually adds another ounce or two.
