Mechanic replaced the ignition switch in 1998 Toyota Avalon XLS?

If the mechanic does not have the equipment to reprogram the computer to recognize the new switch/key, he should not be replacing the ignition switch. I would DEMAND he correct the problem at no additional charge. If that doesn't work, call the local TV news. They usually love to do stories about unethical mechanics. Simply proving you know the phone number is likely to get results.

Most cars from Japan use different part manufacturers to make the electrical parts such as relays, starters, alternators and your ignition switch you have to use the right company and the same company or they wont work very well or at all
