Mechanic question? 2000 Dodge Intrepid problem.?

I am looking at a 2000 Dodge Intrepid to buy. It has 105k miles. I test drove it yesterday and the seller told me when you turn on the heater the pulley is messed up and it makes a loud screeching noise. Any ideas on what it could be? expensive ?
 
Heaters don't have pulleys, but airconditioner compressors do. Unless he was talking about the air fan, which would be used for both AC and heat.

I'd say the seller can't be trusted, get your own mechanic to evaluate the car so that you can assess its value.
