Mealworms,not maggots,in my lounge?

Ok,thought they were maggots,but definately found 2 mealworms in my lounge.

I actually feel physically sick.Is it normal to find these things?How do I stop it happening again?

More likely to be carpet beetle larvae, wait till night time and slip in quietly and turn the light on, there may be loads!
 
mom says don't eat on the couch (lounge), the crumbs filter down through the cracks and most folks don't vacuum the couch weekly like older housekeepers do, so either cover the couch with a bed sheet when you eat on it, you will be suprized how many crumbs you drop, or stop snacking on the couch while watching tv
