At what age would you allow your child to start roller skating? Meaning going to skating rink w/your family for a family outing skating. What is the normal age to let your child start to learn how to skate?

I learned to skate when I was 4 and went to an ice skating rink probably a year later.
So I guess that is the age I consider around normal to start skating with them. Probably dont' take them to "teen night" at the skating rink, but I don't see why it'd be a problem to have the whole family go.
