MDA vs 8125 DATA PLANS

I'm trying to decide between getting T-mobile MDA and cingular 8125. I spoke to a T-mobile rep on the phone and he said that if I get MDA w/contract I can cancel the data plan immediately and still use WIFI on my network at home. I spoke to a cingular rep at a store and he said that if I cancel the data plan on the 8125 I will no longer be able to use WIFI anywhere. Are they both telling the truth? I want to be able to use WIFI w/o paying extra for the data plan. Thanks!

uh huh...uh huh...ok.

Well, what the Cingular rep meant was that you will not be able to use any of Cingular's wi-fi hotspots without paying a fee. You will be able to use your network at home even if you were to cancel your Cell phone subscription. This is because Wi-Fi is short range communication. There is no way in hell, NO WAY IN HELL, that they could know that you are using Wi-Fi. Even if they did, they couldn't do anything, because all you are doing is transferring the internet for which you already pay for, towards another device.

All in all, both plans come out the same. You will not be able to use either T-Mobile or Cingular Wifi hotspots without paying a small fee for each use. It's all a deicison of which phone you like more. You will still be able to use them freely on the net for free at home, or at a friend's house who has a wireless network.

Usually, they are in airports and other places of interest. I know Starbucks have them, but I am not sure what carrier provides the access there. I suggest going to the individual carrier's website and looking for information there.
