McCain just sealed my vote

In all honesty, they couldn't do much. Democrats had pushed the party line for decades that nuclear energy was unsafe and would make our children glow with radioactive poison.

It's only in the past few years that the oil crisis has resulted in nuclear energy articles hitting the news pages and educating the masses.

I'd rather have an annoying fuckwad that brings us into the 21st century than a smooth talking liberal who thinks that nuclear energy is the devil.

Don't worry, he will flip his position in a few weeks, like he does with every other stance.

And I thought Kerry/Romney were flip-floppers.

we haven't built a plant because the cold war and things like chernobyl and three mile scared us, despite teh fact our technology and a well trained crew can prevent such incidents

Thats great and all McCain is pro Nuclear but... he's about a year behind Obama.

NIMBY was not justified by Democratic propaganda, but much more by personal feelings (who wants a power plant in the background? seriously?) and accidents like Three Mile Island and Chernobyl.

I mean solar cells on every new building, hydro plants in every possible location, turnbines anywhere there is wind, even mini turbines in big cities where there's a wind tunnel effect.

The centralized generation of power plants is an outdated model. While there isn't a chance in hell it'd be economically feasible to make the switch tomorrow, distributed generation is the future. Distributed generation could generate a very large portion of our electrical needs and lessen the overall load on the grid. We'd still need some centralized generation for high load areas, but the amount of them would be drastically reduced. The aforementioned lessened load will also make the transition to battery electric vehicles a lot smoother.
