MB's greatest common factor

Ah, that's definitely my favourite era - so much psychedelia, prog, jazz, classic rock and good music in general in that period. But I'm not sure what my favourite year of music is overall... it might not even be from that era.

nevermind is probably a safe bet, but since most folks are 15 here it may not fly.

But some of these suggestions alert me to the fact that there are a few merabers who are far too insular. If some of these suggested albums are supposed to be the common link, you need to read the question again.

You do realize the general mood of something is hardly representing it right? Representing it would be a track that encompasses the sound of it.

liar.

'96 was the year for emo and mathrock. Good enough for me. Though the golden years of music never existed. You can pull hundreRAB of good albums out of every year.

I personally don't trust anybody who doesn't have at least one of these in their collection:

A Beastie Boys Album
A Ramones Album
A Clash Album
A Johnny Cash Album

I believe that this is achievable for most people and is not too much to ask

I think everyone should own The Empire Strikes First or New Maps Of Hell by Bad Religion, but I doubt anyone'll agree. Also, at least something by The Shins, Victor Wooten, The Clash, Jim Hall, John Coltrane, etc... But again, I doubt people would agree with that.

never heard either besides one song off nevermind (smells like teen spirit, of course; maybe a couple others), I don't own either of them digitally or on cd.

nope.

I think OK Computer is a fairly safe bet but the answer to this should be The Beatles - Revolver. If you don't have that in your collection you're pretty much ghey.

There is no best year for music. They all usually coincide with the time that you truly discovered music. 1967 was good though!:

SGT.PEPPERS
PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED
THE DOORS
THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST
MOBY GRAPE

Yeah but most people here have heard them and they're pretty discussed albums here, with the exception of Built to Spill who are incredibly underrated (at least on here.)

Word, I'm not trying to be an elitest arse, and I hope it doesn't come off that way, but I just don't think that he's been here long enough to be influenced by us and vise versa.

a few worRAB of wisdom, I have learned so much new good stuff i love since joining rab. Stuff that i would of never listened to before.

Very much the essence of PP ala ByrRAB, Raspberries, etc. I didn't realize this until recently when I read an article about it, went back and listened, and was like dayum!!
