Final Thoughts:

"I think album wise they're not all that, but i can't knock their ability for releasing brilliant singles. Their songs unite thousanRAB, whether it's the pop of Girl and Boys or the rock of Song 2 are known by everyone. Props to them, unlike their peers they developed their sound as well." Piss me Off

"They manage to blend a nice mix of quirky songs such as Parklife or Country House amiRABt some great writing on This is a Low or Universal. Never ones to take themselves too seriously, they have let themselves create the music that they want, allowing for a consistently steady change and growth down the line." ToeAndno

"There is something very British about Blur that I like that, while leading to lower sale figures on the American market, also brought something very special and charming to their music." The Monkey

Modern Life is Rubbish
One of the best albums to come out of the 90's and probably the best to come out of britpop.

Nothing. That's what I mean. Bowie was great, but Blur really didn't have a lasting impact on music.

This is just a bad chord progression.

Deserving?

If someone asked you about what would be a good start into getting into Blur, you'd say 'sorry, I can think of more deserving artists'?

Lol.

This is not a hall of fame or a reflection on how good/bad the artists are.

:p:

I think that as long as the artist isn't the exact same as a better artist, then it's okay. If we had the best artist of Indian Chant on here I would be interested in reading about it.

Better than pure indie shite.

And no, I have nothing wrong with current music. But Blur is about as deservest as the rest of the Britpop gang. Just because they were popular doesn't mean that they were that good.

It's not a guide to essential artists, though. It's an essential guide to artists, which means it is a place to go if you wanna start out exploring a particular person or band. Not a list of people you should be listening to. Helping people get a good foothold in the artists they want to listen to and explore.

Thoughts

I used to be a huge fan of Blur in the mid-90s. I thought they were a great, catchy pop band. I can remeraber listening to their albums a ton. Over the years, I've found their albums less and less interesting. Overall, I think their music isn't very lasting, but it's quite strong and enjoyable for a while. I still think a handful of their songs are really cool to listen to. I think they were overrated though, as Teenage Fanclub, Suede and Pulp were superior to them from the same era.
