Mazda3 Sport/Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix Which is the best car to invest in?

I live in the maritimes so I'd like a car that's good in snow. I will be travelling a lot on steep hills in the winter. I would prefer an AWD or 4WD. I know the Matrix and Vibe are AWD. I know too from people I know who own Mazda3's that find them great in snow as well. Which car would you recommend based on price, reliability, mileage, etc? Thanks
 
i would get a Pontiac Vibe.
1. my dad had one. FWD. it was great in the snow. except one time when we had a terrible blizzard. sadly it was totaled. and since it is basically a Toyota, its reliable. get them before the stock runs out! Pontiac is being killed by GM
2. great mileage. AWD vibes usually get 26-28 on the highway.
3. vibes are easier to find than either of the two. because people like to buy american cars.

the Mazda 3 is not offered with AWD.
