I have a 2001 mazda protege and it worked fine when i got the car about a year ago but now it is having trouble shifting into 2 and feels like the car does not know where the petal is when i go to accelerate.. sometimes the car after being stopped at a light will not want to go above 20 miles an hour and then its like something kicks in and it jump forward and goes....is this my speed sensor my check engine light is on and my Over drive doesn'tk when i went and took it to auto zone to check the codes it said my speed sensor i jsutjustt to make sure i am fixing the right thing?

Speed sensor is your culprit..... and I thought only Chrysler products had this problem.
Note, check engine code will have to be reset when replacing the sensor. You'll get out of 1st gear, but your shift points will be erattic.

Most likely the speed sensor, or a bad wire (maybe connection).
These are not hard to do, I did one on a different car and it took maybe 15 minutes.
So most shops should be able to do it for the minimum shop charge plus parts.
Please get it done soon as this problem can ruin your transmission.
