I was told a Rotary engine wont last that long...

my friend has a Mazda 1989 RX-7 with 108k miles on it.. i was gonna buy it for 600 BUT i was told the engine will only last like a couple months..

any experts that can help?

It would depend on your driving habits, and taking care of it. It could last quite a while, as long as your friend wasn't beating it up when he owned it.

Only 3 major moving parts? How hard would that be to rebuild? Actually Mazda produces plenty of motors and 13B motors will be around for a long time. Yes the motor life can be an issue use good quality gasoline and lubricants. And get ready for a small car that drinks gasoline and oil. Motor is lubricated with oil jets and the harder you drive the more oil is injected and burned. And never start the engine unless you want to drive it at least 10 minutes. Rotaries flood really easily.

I was going to get a RX7 but I didnt because usually when they have over 100K the apex seals will be badly damaged.
