Is it normal for a manual transmission to wiggle around everywhere? I have a newer Hyundai which has a transmission which does not move at all horizontally, but i was looking at a Mazda mx-6 with 150k+ miles on it and the transmission wiggles around about an inch or two in every gear. is that ok?
no, the engine runs fine, it's just when i put it into gear it moves around WAY too much
i mean, the shift knob, the rpm is regular
it stays in gear and doesn't slip, it moves through gears perfect, i drove it for an hour, it didn't overheat and it didn't slip once. I'm thinking about buying it now...

What do you mean by "wiggles around". Do you mean the needle on the tachometer is jumping around? This isn't normal.

If you hear the engine revving up and down with the needle then something is wrong. If it's only the needle jumping then it's a faulty gauge or connection.
