the place. Symptoms of? Mazda Millenia Base model 1996 2.5V. Engine started overheating and radiator smoke started coming from bay. Checked under hood and evident that some radiator hose or whatever routes the fluid exploded (at-a-glance). Looked like the right side (battery/throtle body side) was sprayed with radiator fluid and more pooling right on top of the transmission. Car runs fine except it will obviously overheat over time. (hopefully people out there have worked on millenias before) I removed the air intake and throttle body to check it out further. The hoses that lead in and out of the throttle seemed like a possible location where the fluid sprayed from but seemed completely fine as I checked the ports. What is possibly wrong with the car? I've got one buddy who got dirt into his radiator reservoir so that's one possibility and same thing happened to him. Any other theories or other parts to check over? Thanks for any help.
I was gonna do that as well. The thing with millenias is its cramped. Im a DIY mechanic on my car so i dont know much but I do know my way around the engine bay. It seemed more than just a leak. From what it looked like the fluid was under extreme pressure and that pressure was let go all of a sudden and not just a leak. Unless a leak can do that. If I do find a leak, what would be my next step besides replacing the hose?
@ vlajulia,
both hoses look intact no leaks whatsoever. It just looks like someone sprayed the right side of my engine bay with fluid.
@ Peter R,
lol I was thinking of your suggestion, refilling the fluid and let it build up again. I just dont want hot radiator fluid explode in my face. Thanks to everyone whose answered so far. I'll fill this thing up and recreate the 'explosion' and then check pressure. Do I need anything special to check for leaks besides the actualy pressure device, like do I need special fluid or dye?
@ brian,
Thanks for all the info. I do know about the switches and yes the fan turns when A/C is turned on. What is the suggested way to flush out any stop leak? I do not think any mechanics I've come across have ever added that (nor I) but worth checking. Thanks again.
