Mazda CX-7 AWD verses FWD?

I am thinking of getting a Mazda CX-7. I live in northern Indiana. I know it's best to get AWD but how is FWD with the snow? I am concern about the price and gas mileage.Would that be a mistake to get FWD?
 
Does it snow a lot where you live? If so highly recommend you get the AWD. I have an AWD SUV (BMW X3) and tell you that once you drive an AWD car is hard to go back to a normal FWD or RWD car
