Guess what... i used to own a mazda 626, 2002, and did replace all 4 speakers in it myself. :)
its fairly simple but a little time consuming if you are going to do it the first time. I am going to go step by step to make it as painless as possible. :)

1. Remove the rear seat first. There are two locks on the bottom of seat where it meets the floor. Its a white color lock and will unlock easily if you slide it. I am not sure if you have to slide it left or right but its very easy.

2. Once seat is removed, remove the side/back cushions by unbolting the bolts on the bottom right behind where the seat belts are bolted. after you unbolt the cushions, you will have to slide them up.

3. unbolt the rear high mount brake light and pull it out. You will have to push it in from the trunk after removing the screw/bolt.

4. Pull out the plastic anchors holding the cardboard on top of the speakers. I think there are 4 of them.

5. Slide the board carefully so that you wont break it.

6. Once the board is removed, you can see the speakers. Now all you have to do is unscrew the speakers and install the new ones.

These steps are for Mazda 626, 2000 - 2002. I am not sure about the earlier models but i am guessing that it will be the same. Hope that helps man.
