Mazda 6 using more than 3/4 tank gas at 170 miles?

please help me with this problem..I filled my gas tank full..14 gallons. After driving 128 miles, My gage was on half tank. After driving 170 miles altogether, the gage was on 3/4 tank. It had a smell, along with a whistle sound while accelerating slowly, you can hear this. I am not sure malfunction fuel injector or pump could be the problem.please help me...
 
well more than likey just needs a good tune up or a bottle of fuel treatment maybe whistle sound maybe turbo or belt loose accelerating slowly could be exhuast plugged.. fuel pump goes bad they bad car dont crank dirty fuel injector might be cleaned by a fuel treatment a complete tune up would be smart
 
Have your exhaust system checked out as well as your
engine emissions, something is leaking, ie vacuum . exhaust
etc.. which could be contributing to your loss of mpg...

1 check your actual mileage [MPG]
2 write down mileage...fill tank...drive 100 miles or more...write down how many miles u drove...fill it up,,,see how many gallons...[EX if you drive 100 miles and use 5 gallons...100 divided by 5 = 20 mpg]
3 you cant go by tang gage measure...the first 1/2 goes slower than 2nd 1/2 just the way its built..
