Mazda 6 gear shift help??

So, i accidently spilt lemonade on my mazda 6 gear shift knob(automatic) and now its sticky and when i move the gear, its sticky and harder to move whereas before it was easy. I was wondering if i pour water on the whole thing to clean, will it get ruined??? if so, then how do i clean it to make it better?? should i take it to the dealer?
 
dont get mad with me, but when your cel phone gets dirty you will wash it with water? no right?

common sence my friend, you are lucky dont damage the comple thing and it still workin

and take it to the dealer is the best thing you can do
