My Mazda 3i Touring (2007) and its system seem to "lock" out of blue every now and then.
The first time it happened, I was driving in the pouring rain inside a parking lot. I was turning my wheel to go around lots to find a parking space, when all of a sudden my wheel locked. It didn't budge, so I put my gear into parking and turned off the engine. Restarting the engine to fixed the problem then.
The second time it happened, I started my car that had been parked under the sun. It was a hot summer day and as I waited outside with A/C on so inside the car can cool off, someone already in the told me A/C was blowing out really hot air. I figured running the car would circulate the air and fix the problem, but I couldn't step on the brake hard enough to release the gear let alone move anything including the wheel.
I asked the dealer about this, but all they say is "We've never heard such a problem before." If this happens again, especially when I'm driving at a high speed on the highway, I'll be dead. A friend of mine who has a shop thinks there may be a problem with ignition switch, but not too sure.
Anyone has ANY idea?
