Mazda 3 sedan vs Toyota Corolla S?

I'm looking into buying a new car. Right now it's either between a Mazda3 or a Toyota Corolla S.
I want to know honest opinions for both cars.
Pros and cons.
Which will hold value longer, which drives and handles better?
And I'm a little confused by all the different models that Mazda has for their 3 sedan model.
Can someone tell me all the different models?

i have an 09 mazda 3 s sport hatchback 2.3 liter. and it is awesome. good price, i paid 16,200 new, great fuel economy, and for having a little i-4 156 hp engine, it is quick and oh so much fun to drive. if you can drive a manual get it with the 3 you cant go wrong, but i dont like the look of the 2010 models, the hatch looks ok, but the sedan not so good.
i cant say much about the corolla ive never driven it, but my friends say its just a good regular sedan, not going to have as much fun though

I have driven both, I'll be honest, the mazda is somewhat more fun to drive than Corolla. BUT, the Corolla is MUCH more reliable. My friend bought a Mazda3 2 years ago, he loved it but he said the engine is way too loud and goes to maintenance often. We own a 2006 corolla CE and 2010 corolla LE. Both cars are extremely reliable, never had a problem.

The biggest PRO about the Corolla is the value,
Corolla have the highest resale value, . Mazda3 does not keep its value. its alright, but NOTHING compared to corolla. And another thing is the reliability.

Mazda is know for being more "fun" and a bit more powerful than Corolla, but i have raced corolla and mazda3 before and honestly the few more horsepower will not make a difference.

I think both cars drive well and handles same..
im not familiar with the models i think its GX, GS and GT, sedan and sport hatch

I would say go for either, in the end its up to you.. corolla is great but i think mazda3 is a good car as well.
