I found a silver 2004 Mazda3 for sale with 60,000 miles on it. Is a Mazda 3 a good far for a first car? They are asking $9,877 for it. Is that a good or bad deal? How much do you think I can get it for? $8,000?

That's good price for Mazda 3, very reliable and gas saver, about 28 to 32mpg I think. For that price I'm guessing it's Mazda 3 i model which is basic model, there are s (sports model) which are little more expensive. I think you can get it down to $9,000 at the most but that's fair price for 04 Mazda

No one I've ever known had any luck with Mazda's. Always costing maintenance from the beginning. Best first car is a Chevy Cavilier. Made as Chevy Colbolts now. You can get like 20 years or more out of them with low maintenance and great mileage.
