Mazda 3, did I choose well?

My dad decided to buy my a car because of the Government Rebate program, even though I can't drive until next year. So he gave me a choice of cars that he would buy me. (Providing I pay for some of it later on)
-Kia Forte 2010
-Scion tC
-Mazda 2010
-Hyundai Elantra 2009
-Toyota Corolla 2010
-Honda Civic 2009

Basically, smaller cars that are good on mileage under 20k.

We bought the Mazda 3, Touring with 5 spd Manual, I wasn't allowed any options because he figures I'm going to crash it anyway.
(I'll be getting the car when I get my license, so technically it's a hand-me-down, although it was bought with intentions for it to be mine)

I did research on each car, but I JUST realized using Yahoo Answers would have been a lot smarter -_-.
So... Should I be beating myself up for getting the Mazda? Or did I make the best choice?
 
yea because kia and hyundais beat themselves up. by that i mean that they get interior damage by just sitting in the sun.
toyota is too common, scion is meh.
civic is way too common, although reliable. i believe the mazda was a good choice. may be harder to repair, but hey its a brand new car, nothing can go wrong with it, just maintain it well, because the warranty only covers damage that is not preventive
 
Scions, Hyundai, and Kia aren't known as the best vehicles for a first car, I'm not saying they are bad cars, though.

The Civic is FAR too common, but EXTREMELY reliable.

The Corolla is a fairly decent contender but I personally think the Mazda is better than the Corolla.

You could've made a better choice with the Civic if you wanted a safe, reliable, first car. The Mazda isn't as reliable, but it's not as common and it is more sporty and some might say luxurious. But of course, the Mazda is one year ahead.
