I have a mazda 3 2006. Yesterday i tried to start my car and at first it wouldnt turn over, then it just made clicking noises when i truned the key. Everytime I turn the key all the lights in the dash flash and gauges shoot up real quick. I tried starting it a few time this morning and all i heard were clicks. Radio works, lights and everything work. I tried jumping the bateery as well and still nothing. Anyone got any insight, as at the moment, i do not have money for towing and a mechanic..help

I still think it's battery. Even if you tried to jump start it, it's possible you didn't have a good enough connection with jumper cables...this is especially true if you have a battery with side posts. Best thing to try is to try the cables again...but after you connect them, wiggle them a bit so they dig in to the lead. be sure the other car is still running and let it recharge your batter for about 15 mins or so before you try to start your car.

Next question would be...now why is the battery dead? 4 possibilities:
1. Dead cell in the battery
2. Alternator is not recharging the battery- best way to check is once your car is running, disconnect the positive lead from the battery...if your car shuts off, then you have a bad alternator.
3. You left some powered item in your car. Be sure all lights are off...and any non standard electric equipment is off too, such as stero amps.
4. bad connection somewhere is causing a drain on the battery.
