Hi Guys,
I have a Mazda 1992 GE V6 Manual 2.5L which recently started choking. Whats happening is that the RPM will drop off. When cruising at says 3000 RPM the RPM will start to fluctuate, there is a loss of power and as the RPM go up and down so does the acceleration of the car so you get jolted around. It has only a few times choked completely and stalled whilst being driven. This was dangerous as the brakes and steering went when the car stalled. Once it stalled it was started again straight away with the key.
When idling (with the clutch in or in neutral, it makes no difference) the RPM drops off almost to the point of stalling but as the RPM fluctuates is comes back alive again.
This choking happens for varying amounts of time but usually about 4 seconds.
This usually only happens when it has about half a tank of fuel or less, and it happens a lot more when the car is near empty
I few thoughts is that it could be due to a build up in the fuel tank which gets sucked in every now and again causing it to choke.
Something to do with the spark plugs or leads
A fuel line problem
If anyone has had this problem or knows what can be done your input would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Nathan
