Maybe it's just bitter of me, or maybe it's a rant but....?

What REALLY is starting to bug me is all these teenage girls running around saying
"PEACE & LOVE"
wearing tons of peace sign jewelry and commenting on everyone pictures "you're such a hippie".
Now I have nothing against real hippies, I love them!
And I would be totally stoked if some of these "ditsy cheerleaders" and "sluts" were actually were becoming interested in things like peace, love, stopping wars, freedom, vegetarianism etc. But they're not, they are the same shallow, immature teenagers who are making this whole thing in to some kind of trend.
Is this stupid of me or is anyone else on the same page as me?

Sorry if you misunderstood my question, I was not calling them sluts for saying 'peace & love' but calling them slutty for other reasons, and then saying how they were kind of acting like "posers".
Wow I've been using a lot of quotes, therefore labels which isn't cool.
All of these answers have been good, it's true, just a phase I guess, I should let them be who they want to be and just ignore them.
 
I'm old enought to have seen 1st generation original hippies. And even back then the posers and fashion victims outnumbered the real ones 5 to one. 10 to one by the end.

Twas ever thus dear one. Just forge ahead on your own journey, don't get distracted by how others travel.
 
just because they do the peace and love thing, and their teenage girls, doesn't mean they are sluts... and it doesn't give you the right to call them that.

this is just a phase that they go through, like GROOVY was back in your day. or whatever you used to say. it'll pass, till then, just deal with it.
 
People always do this, with everything. There's a new trend every month, so what do you care? Honestly just make them feel stupid, by asking what it is that their clothing represents!

If you know the history, the beliefs and the mentality of this group of people then be proud of that. Leave the stupid trendy people alone.

No, I know exactly how you feel.

I was actually happy when I started seeing peace sign jewelry and shirts, being a self proclaimed flaming liberal.

But these stupid, easy cheerleaders that are right wing freaks have totally ruined it for me.

I still have and wear all my peace&love stuff.

But don't sport it, if you don't actually care.
 
I think people can wear and do whatever they want. That's why we live in America. It's a free country.
 
I totally agree!! I hate when an old trend comes back and everyone who is "in style" is adapting that trend. I hate hate hate that!
 
Okay, I have no idea what you're talking about, lol. I haven't heard of anything like that. But just ignore it. It's some kind of trend. People get caught up in stupid stuff like that, and people also love for some reason to follow things, even when they have no idea what they're following. W/e they're the fake ones, not you, don't worry, it'll pass.
