I have been taking vicodin for 5 years now. Usually just one 500mg; once in awhile 2 pills. I'm prescribed them for a broken neck and severe back injuries from a car accident a few years ago.

Two weeks ago today I stopped taking my one pill. I haven't been in enough pain (from my injuries) to decide to take a pill so that's good.

I think for a day or two I possibly had withdrawal symptoms even though they were so mild I'm not sure if that's what it was.

The reason I quit was I thought the Vicodin might be giving me my high blood pressure which I developed last winter. I thought the ringing in my ears would quit and possibly I would start breathing better. I thought I'd have a lot more energy.

Is it I'm just expecting these things to disappear too soon?? Or could it be the Vicodin was never the problem?? :dizzy:

I've had ringing in my ears for decades, whether I was taking opiates or not. The only thing I've found to help the ringing is Lyrica. I used it for nerve pain after my injury and I noticed a cool side-effect of the less ringing in my ears. Vicodin has been blamed on both high and low blood pressure. I think it depenRAB on your body. If the high BP doesn't go away in a few weeks, then I suggest you talk to your physician about it. There may be something else causing the problem. I don't believe that Vicodin caused either of the problems, but everyone's body is different and stranger things can happened!

Feel lucky!! If you experienced w/d's for 2 days after being on Vicodin that long - you are definitely one of the lucky ones!! I do hope that you can manage the pain w/o the drugs. That is one of my goals to be able to do one of these days. Have you talked to your doctor about these conditions? I think you should. Good Luck.
