MAY 21, 2011: JUDGMENT DAY!!!!!!!!

Presuming that others want to be preached to by any given person, especially
anonymously, is obnoxious, no matter which faith is being abused by such
behavior. I had an experience in the grocery store Saturday where a few
college age youngsters were, for whatever reason, hanging out in the store
looking to pray over people. They faked me out by striking up a conversation
asking if I knew something about some meat, and next thing I knew they
wanted to know what I believed and if I wanted to pray, and when I tried to
say no and walk off, they started getting pushy and one tried to put an arm
on my shoulder. They weren't taking no for an answer. At that point I pushed
the kid's hand off of me and told them very sternly that praying in a
grocery store was aganst my religion and walked off. Glancing back, the deer
in the headlights look was priceless.

But I did pray in a way when I went to have a come to Jesus meeting with the
store manager.

I'm coming into this thread late so bear with me. I can understand your
disappointment, sqwertz and others enjoy making people miserable, I've learned
to ignore them.
I think if religion is mentioned here, it should only be for the asking of a
recipe or recipes nothing more, anything more should be in email. There are
many newsgroups setup just for religions, recipes could be asked for there or
researched on the internet before asking here. I applaud you for your faith,
but this newsgroup isn't the proper place for it.

Because of my KFs, I did not see the original until some numbskull
re-posted it. I honestly saw the original as some sort of spammy spoof.
More like making fun of people who believe that way. I could be wrong.
I don't know anyone who really believes he knows the hour or day of the
end of the world.

I agree. Anyone who wants to bring their religion into a news group
that is not about religion IS fair game. As an athiest I might be
offended, if I could be bothered :-)

There are also forums to discuss religion, and this is not one of
them. Turn and turn about.

If insulting someone's religion is tacky, in your opinion, why is it
not tacky to shove your religion in the face of the non-religious?

The method of conduct I'm speaking of is to not allow yourself to
stoop to the level of those who do something wrong.

When you do, you only lower your own standards.

An "eye for an eye" approach to life would make all of us savages
again.

I don't expect you to agree. Its my own way of life. I'm just
mentioning it as a suggestion.

Returning insult with insult just lowers you to that persons level.

I would think you would want to be superior to that type of animal
response and instead respond in a way that will teach the originating
person something worthwhile by example.

As I told another on this group, its my way of living. I'm not
insisting that you follow me, just suggesting that its an option.

I really shouldn't have suggested name calling either. "Dummy" hasn't
much sting to it, but it's still an insult. I retract my suggestion
that it be used.

Some people fall into fanaticism when it comes to religion. Fanatics
don't really care what you say to them. They don't hear it unless it
agrees with their point of view. Its a waste of time to insult them.
They just don't hear it.

I reject the suggestion that we are obliged to suffer in silence when
the religious insist on preaching to us.

Actually, the real fanatics enjoy it. They thrive on the persecution.
